Sausalito Pride Celebrations
75 years ago Sausalito was home to some of the earliest Gay bars and clubs in the Bay Area. For 2024 Sausalito Pride is gearing up for an exciting celebration of LGBTQ+ pride, featuring advocacy, entertainment and engagement. The itinerary:
Pride Not Prejudice
Dates: June 12 – July 7, 2024, Reception Saturday, June 15, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Time: Wednesdays through Sundays, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Features: Art exhibition featuring the work of Arlene Diehl, Austin Boe, Paul Morin, Lucky Rapp, Michael McConnell, Randy Titchenal, Peter Howells, Nathan Foxton, Nathan Lomas, Richard Turtletaub, Alexander Hernandez, Don Hershman, Simon Malvael, Bill Samios, Joel Hernandez, Gary Miller, Joseph Abbati, Charles Stinson and Nate Mahoney.
Inspired by the themes of love and choice in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, this exhibition celebrates the concept of Pride Not Prejudice in the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals sharing their real experiences, their true selves and their unique personal visions.
Sausalito’s Surprising and Amazing Gay History

Cost: Free, but organizers ask that you RSVP here.
Parking: There is a limited number of free spaces in the Library/City Hall uphill from the library. The residential streets around the library have parking reserved for residents, so if the lot is full you’ll need to park on Caledonia St., Bridgeway or the Locust St. lot. (And it’s an expensive ticket if you park in the residential area!)
Features: Local architect and historian Joel Karr will present his research into Sausalito’s deep and extensive gay history.
Town Night Out on Caledonia Street

Features: Sausalito Pride 2024 will kick off the festivities with live music from Trioligy, food trucks, and local vendors. There will also be the chance to participate in a raffle with great prizes.
Friday with Pride: Sausalito Pride Reception
Date: Friday, June 21, 2024
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM (before Jazz and Blues by the Bay, 1 block away at Gabrielson Park)

Features: Warm up for Pride Night at Sausalito’s Jazz and Blues by the Bay with wine, drinks, appetizers and inspiring art from the Pride Not Prejudice exhibit at the SCA.
Pride Night at Jazz and Blues by the Bay

Features: The Stephanie Teel Band (see videos here) will perform at Gabrielson Park and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in Sausalito
Tour d’Equator: Pride Ride 2024

Location: Meet at Equator Coffee at the Round House Cafe at the San Francisco end of the Golden Gate Bridge (See map below)

Schedule:
8:30 AM: Ticket holders gather at Equator Coffee at the Round House Cafe for coffee and pastries
9:00 AM: Ride begins
10:00 AM: Informal stop at Equator Coffees in Downtown Mill Valley (2 Miller Ave), where those who couldn’t meet at the starting line can join in
10:45 – 11:45 AM: Celebration at the top of Mt. Tamalpais
12:30 – 3:00 PM: End at Sausalito Equator Coffee, with lunch provided to ticket holders.
Rainbow Art Walk
Date: June 21-25, 2024

Location: Various art galleries and public spaces
Features: Explore Sausalito’s vibrant art scene through LGBTQ± themed exhibits. Participating artists express their unique perspectives on identity, love, and resilience.
Gene Hiller Menswear Presents “A Night in Drag”

Features: A glamorous evening of celebration, featuring the artistry and charisma of drag culture with performances from fabulous drag queens. Your ticket includes delicious cocktails and delectable appetizers in a vibrant atmosphere of acceptance and love. Tickets cost $100 and will benefit Sausalito Pride.
