Due to the pandemic and some wild weather, this year’s event will once again be held in the banquet room at The Spinnaker, and the format of the event has changed to some degree again this year.
The initial part of the event will take advantage of the zillion dollar views of the Bay and Angel Island from The Spinnaker’s spacious view deck adjacent to the banquet area (see photo above), a spot that regular diners never get to see. There’ll be a no-host bar, and you can talk directly with prestigious local chefs about the herring dishes offered at each tasting station.
As the sun starts to disappear above Wolfback Ridge, magician and mentalist Brad Barton, the “Reality Thief,” will entertain guests with a unique, interactive show. BTW, in case you don’t frequent The Magic Castle or other haunts of prestidigitationists, here’s a tip: whenever a magic show is “interactive” all the people who enjoy getting on stage with the magician should move forward, towards the front of the room. Those who want to avoid such scrutiny should go to the bathroom.
Although I may joke about local fundraisers, this is one of several such annual gatherings that support great causes. The event will feature a raffle and a silent auction to support the efforts of the Sausalito Community Boating Center to provide affordable access to the waterfront to everyone in the community while preserving our unique maritime history.
The fabulous herring dishes and auction items this year are being provided by the following restaurants and chefs (and please thank them for supporting the community):
