Bay Model Outdoors Day Saturday, June 13 in Sausalito

Time: 12:00 Noon – 3:00 PM
Place: Bay Model Visitors Center, 2100 Bridgeway, Sausalito CA 94965. Although the address for the Bay Model Visitors Center is on Bridgeway, the building itself is actually located off of Marinship Way, which splits off of Bridgeway just to the south and runs down a small hill to the nuilding. The satellite photo below shows the huge complex, and the map shows how Bridgeway and Marinship Way intersect. Once you've turned onto Marinship Way signs will lead you to parking for the Bay Model Visitor Center.

Rangers at the Bay Model will host an afternoon of free outdoor activities on the shores of San Francisco Bay for children and their families. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch. Please call Ranger Elizabeth at 289-3022 to sign up for one of the walks for kids described below.
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM *Birds of the Bay" – We've always wondered how many kinds of seagulls live in Sausalito, and families who go on this walk will learn the answer. Bring your binoculars for the best possible experience.
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM *Composting for Kids" – Kids will learn how to take those watermelon rinds, corn cobs, and other kitchen trash and use composting methods to create rich topsoil. Group leader and Bay Model volunteer Len Cardoza will share his tips and tricks in this hands-on event.
2:00 – 2:45 PM *Exploring Marine Creatures" – National Park Ranger Rejane Butler will lead this hunt for the wildest, saltiest, and slowest sea creatures in Sausalito. (No, the No Name and Smitties are not on the itinerary!) The session with start at the Bay Model's salt water aquarium, then move outdoors to search for dockside creatures before the tide comes in.
