Big Crane on Barge Appears Next to Scoma's
Update: The barge and crane are now gone, but the video below lives on!
Last week a large crane suddenly appeared, mounted atop a barge right next to Scoma's, towering over the Bridgeway Promenade. Although it looks like a gigantic Transformer ready to strike, it's really there to support repairs on the pier and floor of the Scoma's building. The structure is over 100 years old, and in the 1890's it was a ferry pier in old Sausalito. Here's our video of the crane on a recent (overcast) day.
To answer the question we've heard most often: Yes, Scoma's did get all the required signoffs from the City of Sausalito before bringing in the crane. Must be an interesting view from the restaurant while this work is going on!
