Muir Woods Birds
As an old growth redwood forest, this area provides a long-term safe haven for many species of Muir Woods birds, and you’re more likely to see birds here than in the patches of forest that separate adjacent towns in the Bay Area.
I know from friends who are hobbyists that Muir Woods birds and birding walks and visits to the adjacent areas of the GGNRA are great spots for trained bird watchers. We sort the list of Muir Woods birds species that visit the park below to prioritize those you’re most likely to see in the current season, and the links go to their Wikipedia pages. This information below was sourced from a great NPS publication, and we sorted it by season to feature the Muir Woods birds you can see right now..
1 = Most Common 2 = Somewhat Common 3 = Uncommon 4 = Rare
