Haunting Marketing Campaign: Casa Madrona Hotel Offers Room with Free Ghost

Stories have circulated around Sausalito for years about a room in the Casa Madrona Hotel supposedly being haunted by someone who died there at some point in the 120+ year history of the building.

The thought once occurred to us, how would we ever find two credible sources if we decided to run the story?

Well, in the grand tradition of Destination Marketing (and perhaps P.T. Barnum) we saw the following online promotion this morning:

"Room 317 at 104 yr-old Casa Madrona Hotel in Sausalito is said to be haunted. Ask Rick at hotel for 'Spooky Package.'"

The hotel's core buildings actually date back to 1885, but it may be that the haunted building is indeed "only" 104 years old.
