Want to Trade Homes with Someone in Tuscany for your Vacation?
If you look at our Houseboats for Rent, Houseboats for Sale or Homes for Sale pages you'll see that they're paid advertising, the ads that "pay the bills" for all the free content on OurSausalito.com.
But when we saw this real estate ad we knew we needed to share it with our readers as a news item. The owner of an apartment in Italy's province of Tuscany is looking for someone to trade places with for a vacation… and one of the places he wants to come to is Sausalito.
Caveat emptor: We saw this ad on Craigslist and have not vetted it in any way. Whenever you make these kinds of trades outside of brokers who guarantee your stay, you should get references and check everything out thoroughly before making commitments, giving access to keys etc. because the potential for fraud or theft is real. If you have a nice place in Sausalito and want to do trades, there are websites that offer you many protections when doing so. Sorry to kill the buzz, but our mission is to inform and support our readers and any Craigslist deal needs to include a Public Service Announcement next to the enthusiasm.
Having pointed out the potential catches, here's more info:
According to the ad, the 1-bedroom apartment is in Armaiolo,an 11th century medieval village in the southern winemaking area of Chianti Classico. Rapolano Terme, a town famous for its hot springs, is very close by. Siena is 15 minutes away, and the winemaking centers of Montalcino and Montepulciano are within a half hour. The apartment has been completely renovated and everything is brand new, with a full kitchen and a large bedroom with a queen bed, as well as a pull-out sofa. It has a flat screen TV, and Iternet access, and sleeps up to 4 people. (Thanks to the ad's author for permission to post the photos.)
