Parachutists Dropping in Near Ferry Building Mid-day August 5

If you're taking the Ferry from Sausalito to San Francisco mid-day Wednesday, allow a little extra time to clear the Ferry Building and Justin Herman Plaza. Skydivers promoting a new cell phone will be dropping into the area during the lunch hour, although weather or other issues nay push the jump back as late as 3:00 PM. Another contingent will drop at Pier 39, the other terminus of Sausalito ferry service.

Last week's shoot for the TV show "Trauma" did not turn out to be as disruptive as the City had feared, so this may not affect your trip. If you're curious, a big screen will be set up in Justin Herman Plaza across the street from the Ferry Building to show the festivities.

One skydiver here or at other San Francisco locations will be dressed as Elvis, and other celebrity lookalikes (or at leas dress-alikes) will be part of the publicity stunt.
