Each year one of the Sausalito Art Festival events is an exhibit of the work of local Sausalito artists at the Bay Model Gallery. As large as our local art community is, the global draw of the Art Festival means that the Festival's exhibiting artists are from all over the world, brought to Sausalito by the event.
Hence this all-Sausalito exhibit. This year's theme is "Art of Parks," inspired by the threatened closure of our own Bay Area parks due to budget cuts by the state of California. Artists were asked to explore why parks are important, how they benefit us all, and how they can be shared and interpreted through art. The multi-media show includes paintings, photographs, ceramics, fiber, glass, sculpture, wood, and other materials.
Artists represented include Evaristo Buendia, Ingrid Butler, Gail Morris, Susan Sternau, Sabine Stetson, and John Wilmer.
