Count 'Em: Six New Restaurants Planned for Sausalito
In 2008-2009 we tracked the demise of Gaylord's, Pomodoro Pizza, Rustico and Northpoint Coffee We also saw the rumored rebirth of Valhalla, and the actual birth of Cibo and Amy's Cafe. Amy's started life as a breakfast-lunch spot, then abruptly closed for a few weeks and then was born again in early 2010 as a Japanese food, smoothie and tapioca place.
Four deaths, two births, for a net loss of two restaurants in Sausalito. I'm not sure how to count a rumored rebirth that wasn't real, or a real rebirth that wasn't rumored.

Oh, and I haven't even brought up how Caffe DiVino quietly changed their name to Divino Osteria… though they just go by Divino or sometimes DiVino and never mention the Osteria part to make it even more confusing.
In recent months a wave of new restaurant applications have wound their way through Building Permits and the Planning Commission at City Hall, one by one gaining approval. In the process, they've been bringing life back to several buildings that have stood vacant for as long as four years.
One of these newcomers is already open, and five are on the way:
Sausalito Seahorse, at the site of the old Saylor's Landing across the parking lot from Fish (Open Now)
La Hacienda Mexican Grill, sharing the old Sausalito Samurai building in Marinship with…
Pizzeria Cinquecento in the Caledonia St. spot occupied long ago by Fukusuke
Unnamed pizzeria from Real Restaurants in the building Peet's failed to claim, formerly the home of Northpoint Coffee
Unnamed restaurant in Rustico's Old Spot on Caledonia next to Divino
2010 should be an interesting year!
