Two different ferry services dock in Sausalito, the public Golden Gate Ferries that sail to the Ferry Building in San Francisco, and the private Blue and Gold Fleet ferries that sail to Pier 39 / Pier 41 at Fisherman’s Wharf. Sausalito Ferry price levels are listed below for each provider. Tickets bought from for one service cannot be used on the other, and the fares are not all the same, and Sausalito ferry fares are different on each service
Golden Gate Ferry Price Levels for Tickets
Ferry tickets are now sold through ticket machines at the Ferry Building in San Francisco and on the ferry pier in Sausalito. (See below for the separate Sausalito ferry price levels and ticket sales process for the privately operated Blue and Gold Ferry.) The Golden Gate Ferry has discontinued its window service with ticket agents.
The Sausalito Ferry Ticket machines accept cash and coins up to a limit of $20 bills, as well as debit cards and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover). The machines operate during the same hours that the ferries are running, and can also be used to add value to your existing Clipper Card.
On July 1 of each year, Golden Gate Ferry raises Sausalito Ferry price levels for tickets. As of July 1, 2024, prices are:
Adults $14.00 ($28.00 round trip)
with Clipper Card $8.00 ($16.00 round trip) as of July 1, 2023 (Almost half off!)
with Clipper START Card $4.00 ($8.00 round trip)
Seniors / Disabled / Medicare $7.00 ($14.00 round trip)
Kids Ages 5-18 $7.00 ($14.00 round trip)
Kids 4 and Under Free with paid adult, Max. 2 per adult.
If you ride the Ferry frequently you can buy a Clipper Card, which gives you large discounts on Sausalito Ferry price levels. The Sausalito Ferry Company store at 688 Bridgeway (about one block from the Ferry pier) also can sell you a new Clipper card or re-charge your old card. It’s also an incredibly fun shop to visit, since it has tons of unique little toys, gifts and just plain fun stuff!
The monthly Ferry passes and Ferry ticket books that many of us grew up that lowered Sausalito ferry price levels with were discontinued by the Golden Gate Bridge District years ago.
The Golden Gate Ferry voyages to San Francisco Giants games do not sail from Sausalito, they only connect AT&T Park and the Larkspur ferry terminal.
