The new Sausalito Homegrown Marin Market is based on a simple principle: bring together local cooks and chefs to share the best delights from their kitchens, and give them the chance to sell their creations to consumers.
It’s like a cross between a Culinary Club and Facebook. Guests pay a $5 fee and sign a waiver to acknowledge that this is like a pot luck dinner and the Health Department does not inspect these chefs’ kitchens. Chefs get the chance to launch an “indie” business and develop an audience for their cuisine.
The “Premiere” will feature dishes including Caribbean jerk, Laotian salad, Vietnamese burgers, Vegan German Currywurst, Chinese dumplings, award-winning chili verde, Bolivian empanadas, raw desserts, gluten-free baked goods, Parisian macaroons, and more. (I wasn’t hungry when I started writing this and now I’m starving!)
