Have an early flight out of SFO on Sunday?
Here's a summary of how this event will all work.
From 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM the Bridge crews and CalTrans will change the lane configurations on the Bridge, Doyle Drive and the northern end of Park Presidio for the Marathon. This shouldn't impact traffic too badly due to the late hour unless you have an early flight and are trying to get to SFO, in which case you need to allow extra time. There will be a buffer lane between the traffic and the two lanes used by the runners.
The parking lots and Vista Point will be closed from 12:00 Midnight to 10:00 AM. You will not be able to drop people off near the Bridge during this time.
The full list of Midnight – 10:00 AM closures, as provided to us by the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District is as follows:
— Last northbound San Francisco exit off Doyle Drive northbound, just before the toll plaza.
— Southeast Visitor parking lot
— First southbound exit right after the toll plaza to 25th Avenue/Merchant Road.
— Vista Point exit (northeast end of the Bridge) to the Vista Point parking lot.
Also closed from 3:00 AM to 10:00 AM: Parking lot at northwest end of the Bridge (off Conzelman Road, called the Dillingham lot).
Although the Bridge sidewalks will remain open, the Bridge District is recommending that people wait till after 10:00 AM to walk or bike across the Bridge because all the road closures in the area will make access a hassle.
Bus service: There will be no service from 1:15 AM to 10:00 AM at the northbound bus stop on the east side of the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza, and Muni will not serve the Southeast Visitor Parking lot from Midnight to 10:00 AM.
PresidiGO buses will follow their normal schedule.
