When Real Food Co. closed on Caledonia St. two years ago after a lease dispute it sent a ripple through the Sausalito community, since (despite being part of a Utah-based chain) it was seen as the responsive local source for organic foods.
Two years later that void is being filled, this time by locally-owned single-store Driver's Market, the brainchild of former Real Food Co. employee Adam Driver and local investor Paul Geffner.
They're celebrating their grand opening with a big event this weekend (see poster below) with free food, music and activities at their new Caledonia St. home (see poster below). Adjacent Turney St. will be closed for the event.
OurSausalito.com Editor Ellie Klevins and our Photographer and Artist Extraordinaire Sabine Stetson are both excited about the new store. Ellie writes:
"We are so lucky to have this family-owned, community focused market now open and getting better every day. They are bringing in the finest of fresh, organic, healthy and delicious food. I am loving the sandwiches – just tried the chicken curry wrap –made crunchy with green apples and almonds. Made better by sitting outside on brand new red bistro tables. This is the place to gather and eat. And shop."
Should be a great weekend of fun!
