Saylor’s Restaurant and Bar
Although Sammy Hagar has earned a lot of publicity for Saylor’s (one of his favorite local spots — see video below) this place is popular with many non-famous locals. Saylor’s has remained off the radar for many traveling Sausalito visitors due to its location just north of the Caledonia St. restaurant cluster. A name associated with restaurants in Sausalito for over 20 years. Saylor’s has added the headline “A Little Piece of Cabo in Marin” to its menus, and that’s an accurate description in many ways.
If you come here a few times they will start to treat you as a “regular,” something I always appreciate. (And Saylor’s has lots of regulars!) As one local pundit put it, “If you want to see people who live and work all over the world, go to downtown Sausalito. If you want to see people who live and work in Sausalito, go to Saylor’s.” Getting reservations in advance is strongly advised, especially with larger groups.
Sean Saylor is a serious expert on tequila, so if that’s your special drink this is a great place. As a chef he started out in culinary school then earned his real-world stripes in a series of prominent restaurants before becoming an executive chef and entrepreneur. Many evenings we’ll be greeted by Sean himself or another Saylor family member when we walk in.
Insiders Tip: Check out both the daily specials menu and the day-of-the-week specials in the regular menu, which include both Mexican dishes and traditional comfort food.
Their secluded back patio is a great place for special events.
