As we reported yesterday road construction crews closed two lanes of Donahue St. during the middle of the day for the road work that the signs have been telling us would only take place at night (See map below, where traffic conditions will update automatically thanks to Google). You can read the original press release here.

Traffic promptly backed up onto southbound Highway 101 at the Sausalito-Marin City exit, setting up the risk of rear-end chain reaction accidents on the freeway.
On Tuesday they closed more lanes to install road sensors, but the pattern of closures meant that southbound traffic flowing into Sausalito off the freeway was not backed up.

Today’s pinch point comes after you turn left off of Bridgeway to go under Highway 101 to reach the on-ramp to go to San Francisco, or to go to Marin City. When I drove through to check it out delays were running at about 3 minutes to cross a distance that normally takes 15 seconds — not enough to motivate an angry mob but not welcome if you are running late for a commitment in The City.
