Sausalito Views of New Year’s Eve San Francisco Fireworks
We are sorry to report that San Francisco has canceled its 2021 New Year’s Eve fireworks for the second straight year, due to the recent surge in Covid-19 infections.
Date: December 31, 2021
Time: San Francisco Fireworks start at Midnight. The show usually lasts for about 15 minutes.
Place: Fireworks are set off from a barge about a hundred yards (90 meters) off the shore of the Embarcadero in San Francisco. Best viewing from southern Sausalito shore areas and from Sausalito view restaurants.
Sausalito View Restaurants & Special Music Performances on New Year’s Eve
Each year in San Francisco about 200,000 people crowd the Embarcadero south of the Ferry Building to watch midnight fireworks usher in the New Year. The best viewing spots in The City are between Mission St. and Folsom St.
Fog willing, you can get a distant view of both barges from the San Francisco show from Sausalito. The best viewing spots are along the Bridgeway Promenade and on the southern Sausalito Boardwalk in Old Town. The area at the Sausalito Ferry Pier is also a good choice.
If you want to enjoy a glass of champagne while you watch the Sausalito New Year’s Eve fireworks several of the “big view” Sausalito restaurants are staying open late. Some dining rooms have special menus and seating times and many stop serving their full menu at 10:00 PM or earlier, so be sure to call ahead for reservations and more information.

Barrel House — Last call for meals is at 10:00 but the bar will remain open.
Farley Bar — Open, with restricted bar menu for food. Their front porch is a great viewing spot on a clear night.
Murray Circle — Special tasting menu dinner with two seatings, reservations required.
Presidio Yacht Club — Special New Years Event, call for reservations.
Scomas — Normal schedule, closes before midnight.
The Spinnaker — Open till after midnight, though kitchen may close earlier.
The Trident — They have a special New Year’s event, and reservations are required.
Important Note: There is no “free ride home” program in Sausalito this year. Please call a taxi, Uber, Lyft or a friend so you get home safely, and please don’t risk your life or the lives of others by driving if you’re buzzed, stoned or drunk.
