The Angel Island Tiburon Ferry Pier
The Angel Island Tiburon Ferry is operated by a private operator that has a contract with the State of California to serve Angel Island State Park. No other entity offers Angel Island service from Marin County, where both Tiburon and Angel Island are located. Unlike Alcatraz, however, private vessels can sail directly to Angel Island and pay a fee to dock there.
Insiders Tip: When you drive by on Main St. in Tiburon it’s easy to miss the Angel Island Tiburon Ferry pier. A narrow passageway between the Water’s Edge Hotel and a shop called Main Treat is the most direct route that leads you to the boarding area. Once you park at a Tiburon ferry parking lot and walk through the alleyway between the buildings you’ll see the waiting area deck just to your left, and the gangway to the ferries just beyond it. You can also walk around the edge of Guaymas restaurant at the end of the block and take a boardwalk behind the building to reach the Angel Island pier.
Insiders Tip: Golden Gate Ferry operates commuter ferries linking Tiburon to San Francisco from a separate pier just to the left of the Angel Island pier. A private service that offered ferry links to Fisherman’s Wharf transferred their rights to Golden Gate Ferry in 2017, so all sailings now connect to The Ferry Building on The Embarcadero at the foot of Market St.
