Golden Gate Dairy Stables
Fast Forward SummaryTM: Golden Gate Dairy Stables is a non-profit horse boarding and rental stables adjacent to Muir Beach, just up the hill from the Pelican Inn. The stables are located on land that is part of the GGNRA, and have been going through a series of upgrades to retain their location inside the park. Several popular local trails cross the property. In addition to preserving the century-old tradition of recreational horseback riding in West Marin, the Stables’ operators, the Ocean Riders of Marin, offer a variety of educational programs. Muir Beach gets its mail from Sausalito and has no post office of its own, and Sausalito and Muir Beach share the 94965 Zip Code.
It’s about a 9 mile (15 km) drive on a narrow state highway over the Mt. Tamalpais ridge that is home to Muir Woods to get to Golden Gate Dairy Stables from Sausalito, and the drive is about 30 minutes in light traffic.
