The Golden Gate Bridge District has informed us that some kind of Occupy protest that blocks pedestrian traffic may be set up near the old Sinbad’s Restaurant (labeled “Ferry Plaza” on the map below) next to the Ferry Building in San Francisco this afternoon, Wednesday, February 3, 2016, around 4:00 PM.
Here’s the problem: Due to Super Bowl City and security concerns, the Port of San Francisco has closed the normal routes we take through the Ferry Building to get to the ferries after crossing the Embarcadero. Passengers are supposed to walk around the southern end of the building, the side closest to the Bay Bridge, where the Gandhi statue is located.
That’s also where the protest is reported to be taking place this afternoon. We don’t know if pedestrian traffic will be stopped, slowed, or completely unaffected but we wanted to give you a head’s up.
If you commute on the Golden Gate Ferry to Sausalito or Larkspur, allow some extra time to get to the Ferry pier this afternoon, just in case, The area labeled as the Larkspur Ferry pier on the map below also serves Sausalito.
