Another New Restaurant for Sausalito: "Cibo"
Update: Cibo is Now Open and our Cibo page is here
First it was a sign promising that Sally Stanford's Valhalla Inn was returning to its historic spot. Now we can report on another new restaurant planned to open in Sausalito, and one that (unlike Valhalla) has completed all its homework and turned in all its papers.
The family that owns the highly-rated Angelino restaurant in Sausalito is planning to open "Cibo", a breakfast and lunch place, on Bridgeway and Pine, across the street from Paradise Bay.
They're planning to have unique coffee blends from Blue Bottle Coffee in Emeryville, outstanding baked goods and great food. Coming from newcomers that would be routine, but coming from an established Sausalito restaurant tradition it means something.
The concrete work you've seen being done at the corner as you drive by on Bridgeway is for their outdoor dining area. An art gallery and the existing garden decor shop will be adjacent to the restaurant.
For Sausalito history fans: The City believes that the older, brick part of the building long ago was a lumber storage facility for the Pacific Northwest Railroad line that ran through Sausalito down to the Ferry before the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Cibo was first announced last August, but we understand that the Big Day is coming soon. We'll keep listening for the Grand Opening announcement.
