Sausalito Ferry Float Returns: How Long till Sausalito Ferry Running?
June 22, 2021 Update: Sausalito Ferry re-opens! Click here for new Sausalito ferry schedules for Golden Gate Ferry and Blue & Gold Fleet
Now that the June 15 post-pandemic re-opening of California has begin, the biggest question in town is, “Is the Sausalito Ferry running?”
The answer is, “Not yet, but…” Lunchtime in Sausalito on June 14 wasn’t just a great day because of bright blue skies, the warm sun and cool breezes. It was also a great day because the damaged float that shut down Sausalito ferry service to San Francisco for three months finally returned home. Contractors worked from a barge to reinstall the passenger landing, which passengers cross as they walk between the ferry boats and the gangway for the Sausalito ferry pier.
This is the last step before they can restart service and get the Sausalito Ferry running. The float’s return comes a full month later than the original 60-day estimate for repairs published by the Golden Gate Ferry.
We have (still) seen no announcements from Golden Gate Ferry about when ferry service will resume between Sausalito and San Francisco, and will update this article once we know more. The pier’s location is the red flag on the map below.
Update June 15, 2021: I went down to the pier to check out the reinstallation of the Sausalito Ferry float and see if there were any signs about the Sausalito Ferry running. I took photos that turned out to look like copies of yesterday’s photos, and found no reference to resumption dates on site or online.
June 17 update: Blue and Gold Fleet has announced that its Sausalito ferry service from Fisherman’s Wharf will resume on Friday, June 25.
