The Bay Model Visitor Center is a wonderful, FREE research and education facility built and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Below are their events in January and February:
Trekking the Model
Saturdays, March 10th & 31st. 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
Join one of the Bay Model Visitor Center rangers for a guided tour of the 1.5 acre hydraulic model of the San Francisco Bay and Delta. Learn the history of the site and its two major operations that took place between 1942 – 2000.
The Night Sky Above Point Reyes & Joshua Tree – Art Exhibition

Meet the Artist Reception: Saturday, March 24th. 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Point Reyes photographer Marty Knapp will be showcasing his new works, Astro-Landscape Photographs, at the Bay Model’s latest art exhibit. These beautiful pieces will grace the lobby walls with his iconic land and seascape photography of the Point Reyes National Seashore. This exhibit will also be an opportunity for you to see his newest creations featuring starry skies above Point Reyes, Mt. Tam, and Joshua Tree National Park. John Reber, the Man with Grand Ideas

The San Francisco Bay Project, also know as the Reber Plan, was designed and advocated in the late 1940’s by John Reber. His vision was a massive civil works project that would take the mouth of the Sacramento River and channel it with locks and dams to collect fresh drinking water. Was his plan a success? Join Ranger Linda to find out if his goal of improving the quality of life for Bay Area residents was achieved.
Fluxations in Static Blue – Art Exhibition
On until Saturday, March 10th.
Sausalito based artist Bret Arenson, who received a BA in Fine Arts from UCLA, will be exhibiting his large scale work titled, Fluxations in Static Blue, in the gallery. This piece will span the entire main wall of the exhibit area and entices guests to find movement and flow within what could be considered static states. Heirs to Our Ocean

American Cetacean Society – SF Bay Chapter
Join the Bay Model for this month’s American Cetacean Society presentation by Heirs To Our Oceans. This group of youth leaders are dedicated to inspiring awareness, responsibility, and action to protect the Blue Planet for future generations. They empower youth by supporting them in their education and engagement in tackling the human impact on our oceans. A $5 donation will go towards student research grants.

Entry to all events is FREE, although donations are always welcome. Parking is also free. Have a group of 10 or more? Reserve a free guided tour for your class, club, or group. Interested in the Marinship area? Free guided tours of the historic waterfront are available to small groups on weekday mornings.
