Golden Gate Ferry has informed us that they’re experiencing ten minute delays on Sausalito, Larkspur and Tiburon ferries this morning due to intense fog on the Bay. The same will almost certainly be true of Blue and Gold Fleet’s Sausalito, Tiburon and Angel Island ferries.
The ferries are all equipped with radar and other navigation aids so they can see other vessels in the fog, but they slow their operating speeds to create an additional margin of safety.
Although we get updates from officials in extreme cases, it’s good to assume that ferry service will run a little more slowly than usual on any day where the fog is thick enough that you’re driving with extra care when you’re near the Bay.
