As of 2:30 PM on Monday, August 7 try to avoid the Sausalito-Marin City Exit on 101 in either direction, especially southbound. Road construction crews have closed two lanes of Donahue St. (See map below, where traffic conditions will update automatically thanks to Google.) The northbound exit is slow but much less impacted.
.
Traffic is backed up onto southbound Highway 101. Coming back from lunch I used the Spencer Ave. exit instead of Donahue St. to come into Sausalito. If you go to the Target Marin City shopping center you will also be embroiled in the jam and be stuck for quite a while before you break free on Bridgeway.
The road work on Donahue St. had previously been done at night, but today they have blocked lanes off mid-day and it’s a mess that’s getting worse as the afternoon goes on. The original press release said that no daytime ramp closures would take place, but conveniently omitted daytime closure of Donahue St., which then backed up onto the southbound offramp and Highway 101.
.
Update: I can barely make out the backup on 101 on this webcam as of this update (3:30 PM Monday). You can find more Sausalito webcams here.
