We have seen reports of at least two house cats being killed by a coyote in the hills of Sausalito since July 21. Residents are sharing advice to keep cats inside whenever possible. Please share this information with friends and neighbors.
.
A coyote’s range could easily include all of the hillside neighborhoods of Sausalito, so this should be considered an alert for everyone rather than just one neighborhood. Since we are adjacent to the GGNRA there are likely to be multiple coyotes that travel into Sausalito.
The most recent report was on Cazneau Ave. above Caledonia St. (see map below — flag is for the street, not for the location of the incident).
.
We lived on Cazneau at one point (not far from the flag on the map below) and I can certify that the steep terrain there makes it easier for coyotes to escape attention. The same, however, can be said of most Sausalito hillsides.
