Move Over, Iron Chefs!
Once in a while we see a Sausalito event that supports a great charity and also looks like it will be tons of fun. This year the braintrust at the Sausalito Woman’s Club has come up with a real winner with their Iron Chef style “Battle of the Chefs” program at 6:30 PM Saturday, May 21 at the IDESST Hall at 511 Caledonia St. in Sausalito.
Respected regional chefs Sean Saylor of Saylor’s Restaurant & Bar in Sausalito and Todd Davies of Hilltop 1892 in Novato will compete by preparing a three course meal for a panel of (lucky) local celebrity judges.
Those of us in the audience will also get to enjoy great cuisine while watching this battle of long knives and short cooking times, with the chance to sample premium hors d’oeuvres and desserts from Marin restaurants.
Master Practitioners of Mixology from Saylor’s and Hilltop will also compete head to head in a battle to invent the special-occasion specialty drink that will be offered at the no-host bar.
Tickets to the event cost $75 each (for advance sales, they’ll be $85 at the door) and can be ordered by clicking here.
Proceeds from this really clever concept will go to the Sausalito Woman’s Club Scholarship Recognition Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides financial support, encouragement and recognition to deserving Marin City and Sausalito students. The Woman’s Club has a long and distinguished record of helping worthy students in the community.
