Many of Sausalito's galleries are filled with works by non-local artists, so we were delighted to see that the Art Gallery at Cavallo Point Lodge has a new exhibit called "Nurture" with works by sculptor Aiko Morioka of Sausalito, Artist and Photographer Sabine Stetson of Sausalito, and Artist/Writer Edward Vilga of San Francisco.
Morioka's sculptures combine elements of nature and spirituality in smooth, dark stone. One striking piece is a large obelisk portraying noble creatures of nature, with hands safely holding the world depicted at its base.
Stetson (whose photos have graced many a page here at OurSausalito, com) captures moments of natural beauty and then uses computer graphics technology to selectively enhance colors and lines to focus our eye in new and fascinating ways.
Vilga combines elements of writing, photography and painting in yoga-themed images that express joy in the passage of time and in our opportunity to live our lives as part of a continuing and continual natural world.
The Gallery is located next to the Cavallo Point Lodge lobby, and there is no charge for the exhibit.
