Date: Saturday, September 11
Time: 5:00 – 10:00 PM
Place: New Sausalito Police and Fire Buildings, Caledonia & Johnson St., Sausalito CA 94965
Cost: Dedication ceremony is free, “Taste of Sausalito” $20 per person
The City of Sausalito has announced that the official opening and dedication of the new Public Safety Facility buildings will take place at a special event where the community is invited to join in. Sausalito City Manager Adam Politzer, Chief of Police Scott Paulin, Fire Chief Jim Irving and other dignitaries will host the formal dedication ceremony that will start promptly at 5:30 PM, with Sausalito resident and KPIX evening anchor Dana King as M.C.
The “dedication, celebration and remembrance” ceremony will include an honor guard and bagpipers. The flag raising and brief remarks by local officials will be followed by a “Taste of Sausalito,” which you may remember from past years’ Caledonia Street Faires. For $20 per person guests will sample great food from top Sausalito restaurants, including Angelino, Avatar’s, Cibo, Divino Osteria, Horizons, ITK, Paradise Bay, Poggio, Sartaj, Saylor’s, Spinnaker, and Sushi Ran.
There will also be a no-host bar with beer and wine available for $5. The full-scale party then kicks off with dancing under the stars to Swing Fever.
The Police and Fire Departments have been housed in temporary facilities for 15 years, and we can only imagine how excited they are to move into the new 11,000 square foot fire station and 8,000 square foot police station that will be up and running next week.
Note: Street parking in the area is limited, so carpooling or walking to the event is advised. The most convenient parking lot options are City Lot 4 (on Bridgeway just East of the movie theatre), Dunphy Park or City Hall.
