Blue and Gold Fleet Expands Summer Schedule, Adds Friday Service to Ferry Building, Raises Prices
Two different ferry services connect the Sausalito ferry pier to San Francisco, one public (the Golden Gate Ferry, operated by the Bridge District), and the Blue and Gold Fleet (a private company in San Francisco).
Blue and Gold expands their schedules in May of each year to serve the summer crowds coming to Sausalito, and then contract their sailings in October for the off-season. The Golden Gate Ferry schedule remains the same for now.
For 2010 the new Blue and Gold summer schedule offers both welcome and unwelcome news:
— More late afternoon ferries have been added to support the crush of visitors who rent bikes in San Francisco, then ride across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito.
— FRIDAY ONLY: A late evening ferry has been added that also makes a stop in each direction at the Ferry Building.
— Blue and Gold raised their ticket prices by 50 cents each way for both adults and kids. They do not charge extra for bikes.
Golden Gate Ferry ticket prices (which are lower) remain unchanged and are not affected by the Blue and Gold price increase.
