"State of the Water" Update August 23
Date: August 23, 2009
Time: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Place: The Bay Model Visitors Center, 2100 Bridgeway, Sausalito CA 94965. Although the address for the Bay Model Visitors Center is on Bridgeway, the building itself is actually located off of Marinship Way, which splits off of Bridgeway just to the south and runs down a small hill to the nuilding. The satellite photo below shows the huge complex, and the map shows how Bridgeway and Marinship Way intersect. Once you've turned onto Marinship Way signs will lead you to parking for the Bay Model Visitor Center. The entrance faces the Bay.
Price: Free, but donations are appreciated
I have to admit that despite my training in jounalism, unless a politician is a great orator I am tempted to wait for the "sound bites" news coverage rather than watch all of a long speech. I know that makes me an example of the non-attentive voter that we journalists often criticize. It's also the reason that all the editors here try to write short posts!
This "State of the Water" address will be more interesting, however, because a) it's presented by engineers, not politicians, and b) it's held at the Bay Model and will present a synopsis of the recent Water Education Foundation event in Sacramento and learn about current California water issues. If this is a topic on which you're passionate it sounds like a great event.
Maybe if the Governor built a 1.5 acre working model of the state budget that showed how money flows to and from Sacramento we'd all pay more attention to his speeches? We'll leave it up to your imagination to picture what that model would look like!
