July 30 is Deadline to Submit Works to Sausalito Art Festival Exhibition
Note: We previously reported this deadline as July 20. We now understand submissions will be accepted until at least July 30.
The Sausalito Art Festival draws entrants from all over the world, although our local artist community is certainly well represented.
In parallel to the event where artists set up individual booths to sell their works, the Art Festival will present its seventh annual exhibit of work from local artists at the Bay Model Visitor Center. The exhibit will run from Thursday, August 20th through Wednesday, September 9th, 2009, so it starts a full two weeks before the main Sausalito Art Festival.
In recognition of the dangers faced by our natural treasures due to the recession and the California budget crisis, this year's theme will be Art of Parks. The organizers are asking artists "to represent why parks are important, how they affect people and humanity, and why they should be displayed through art."
The Exhibition is a multi-media show that should communicate the spirit of parks through paintings, photographs, ceramics, fiber, glass, sculpture, wood, and any other medium that gains significance in the hands of the artist.
Submission Guidelines:
– The Artist must be a Sausalito resident or have a studio in Sausalito
– Each Artist may submit no more than two pieces of their artwork
– Tangible or digital representation (ie. photographs of work) accepted
how the piece relates to the theme.
You can apply to set up an appointment by emailing Cate Stewart at cate@sausalitoartfestival.org or by calling 415-332-3555.
We're really looking forward to seeing this exhibit from our fabulous local art community!
