Dia de Portugal Event in Sausalito June 6

The Portuguese organization Irmandade Do Espirito Santo e da Santissima Trindade (abbreviated as I.D.E.S.S.T., translated as The Brotherhood of the Holy Ghost and Blessed Trinity) dates back to 1887 in Sausalito. On Saturday, June 6, they will wrap up Portuguese Week in California when they host a "Dia de Portugal" event at the I.D.E.S.S.T. Hall on Caledonia St., starting at noon.

The Consul General of Portugal in San Francisco and the Regional Government of the Azores (Açores) are also sponsors of the event.

Performers include Conjunto de Guitarras Sete Colinas (Fado style guitarists), Ilda Maria (Fadista), Helio Beirao (viola da terra, a 15-string Azorean guitar) and Julia & David Borba (Portuguese classical guitar), Tradicoes da Nossa Terra (Azores folk dance group) and The Five Wounds Youth Choir.

Artists whose work will be exhibited include Father Manuel Bernardo Soares, Goretti Carvalho, Maria Fernanda Simoes and Helia Borges Sousa.
