Cavallo Point Lodge, Murray Circle and Farley Bar Celebrate 1st Birthday
It's hard to believe that it's only been one year since hotel Cavallo Point Lodge, restaurant Murray Circle and the perfectly-named Farley Bar (inspired by the late Phil Frank's cartoon character) opened in the former military base of Fort Baker, at the southern edge of Sausalito.
Although the creation of the complex was marked by controversy and extensive opposition that resulted in significant changes from the original plans, Murray Circle in particular has had a dramatic first year:
— They were awarded a Michelin Star, a rare accomplishment for a first-year restaurant;
— They won a place on Michael Bauer's Chronicle Top 100 Restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, another unusual triumph for a restaurant's inaugural year.
Not a bad rookie season, given the recession and the extremely competitive Sausalito and San Francisco markets. We have not heard about any special events at Cavallo Point or Murray Circle to commemorate the date, but wanted to point out how far the restaurant has come in a short time.
