Four Sausalito Restaurants to Support WildCare May 19-20
The Terwilliger Foundation’s WildCare program in San Rafael is a dry-land version (albeit smaller) of Sausalito’s Marine Mammal Center, offering an array of wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education programs for local native animals. They help rescue creatures threatened by oil leaks, provide education programs to teach children respect for wildlife, and provide emergency care for injured animals.
One of their annual fundraisers is called “Dining for Wildlife.” Guests make special restaurant reservations through WildCare and get a special price fixe menu prepared by the celebrated chefs at major local restaurants. The price for the three-course meal, complete with a glass of wine, varies based upon the establishment, and a portion of the proceeds goes to supporting WildCare.
Participating restaurants in Sausalito are Fish (May 19 only, $55), Poggio Trattoria ($75), Saylor’s Restaurant and Bar ($45) and Scoma’s ($65).
Three of the four restaurants participating are in this month’s Top Ten on the OurSausalito.com Best Restaurants in Sausalito list and three are on the Best Special Occasion Restaurant list. All four have strong (sometimes fanatical) local followings.
Prepaid dinner reservations can only be made by calling WildCare at 415-453-1000, ext. 11. The deadline for reservations is May 13.
We’d like to throw in a big round of applause for the owners and managers of Fish, Poggio, Saylor’s and Scoma’s for giving back to the community in this way.
