The ranch is surrounded by the cluster pof national parks that collectively form the GGNRA, and multiple popular hiking trails cross the property, a key part of the plan to create the educational center within the GGNRA in 1970. The Ranch provides day camps and educational programs where kids get the chance to work on a real, operating farm, learning both traditional skills and important life lessons. It’s about a 10 mile (16 km) drive on a narrow, well-traveled state highway over the same mountain ridge that is home to Muir Woods to get to Slide Ranch from Sausalito, and the trip takes about 30 minutes in light traffic.
