Complete List of San Francisco Ferry Services
The Bay Area is served by a network of ferry terminals and services, and we have the only complete list on the Web, with links for each route and schedule. Many, but not all services are based at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Scroll down for an alphabetical list. All San Francisco ferry service is passenger only. The last car ferries on the Bay were retired from service almost 60 years ago.
Spring, 2023 Note: Note: Some sailings to Angel Island, Larkspur, Sausalito and Tiburon have moved back and forth between Gate B and Gate C recently. If yo7u’re going to any of these destinations, please look for the signs placed behind the Ferry Building, near the railing by the water, directing you to the correct gate.
Insiders Tip: Avoid being confused by San Francisco ferry operator names. “San Francisco Bay Ferries“ is the name for WETA’s public ferries (which operate in cooperation with Blue and Gold Fleet). Golden Gate Ferry (run by the Golden Gate Bridge District), Alcatraz Cruises and Angel Island Ferry also run ferries, and Blue & Gold Fleet runs separate voyages under their own flag and logo.

Clipper Cards on Ferries on San Francisco Bay
The Clipper Card service offers discounts on publicly funded ferries for regular commuters. You “put money on the card” the same way you would for a gift card in a store, and when you use it on a ferry, bus, BART or Muni you are charged a discounted fare for travel.
You buy a Clipper card or add value to it at the Clipper Card site, or at retailers including Walgreens. Golden Gate Ferry ticket vending machines at the San Francisco Ferry Building, Larkspur and Sausalito will also “recharge” the cards with added funds. Some companies also offer the service as an employee benefit.
Clipper Cards are accepted on these local ferry routes:
Golden Gate Ferry
San Francisco – Larkspur
San Francisco – Sausalito
San Francisco – Tiburon
SF Bay Ferry
South San Francisco – Alameda – Oakland
San Francisco – Alameda (Main St.) – Oakland
San Francisco – Alameda (Harbor Bay)
We understand that Clipper Card usage on the San Francisco ferry service to Vallejo will be offered soon.
Clipper Cards on the ferries are used in the same way as other transit methods. When you board a Clipper reader will be by the door. Just “tag” it by placing your card next to it and it will beep, display a green light and record your entry.
When you disembark a Clipper card reader will be on the pier so you have to pass by it. Tag your card again to ensure you’re charged the right fare. If you don’t “tag off” there’s the chance you’re mis-charged for the trip, in which case you’d have the hassle of calling the Clipper office to get it corrected.
