The Alcatraz Landing Cafe is set up as a place for people to get a fast meal at the Pier 33 Ferry Terminal before boarding a ferry for Alcatraz, although sandwiches are sold on the ferries as well. You can also buy bottled water here.

The Alcatraz Cafe offers basic food, but it is a typical high-volume tourist area facility and is expensive for what you get. If you give yourselves more time before your scheduled tour departure this area has many excellent restaurants. If you’re waiting in line you’ll be very glad it’s here!

Insiders Tip:  Visitors are not allowed to bring food past the dock area into Alcatraz after disembarking from the ferry, so eating before you go (or early in the short voyage) is a good idea. Delaying your walk around the island while you wolf down the last of your food (or throw out expensive items) is not fun.
