Mary Ann Sears Park
(Formerly Harrison Park)
Mary Ann Sears Park is a very small neighborhood park serving residents of “The Hill” above downtown Sausalito. Although it is a postage stamp style of park tucked between homes and the Rectory of Star of the Sea Catholic Church, it has play equipment, grass and room to run for small kids and is an ideal uncrowded spot for the little ones. Older kids won’t find a lot to do here, and there are no clear views for adults to savor, unlike some of the other neighborhood parks.
Harrison Park was renamed Mary Ann Sears Park in 2013 to honor the late Mary Ann Sears, a neighbor who volunteered to clean and maintain the park through many years when public budgets were slashed and the park was in danger of becoming unusable. She also left a bequest in her will to help pay for future park maintenance. Her daughter is Marin County Supervisor Kate Sears.
