Ayala Cove Pier

Like the Tiburon and Sausalito ferry piers, the Ayala Cove pier at Ayala Cove on Angel Island is used for sailings by two different services on two different routes (as well as private boaters):
- To Pier 39 / Pier 41 at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, with service by Blue and Gold Fleet ferries (for weekend service)
- To the Angel Island Ferry Pier in Tiburon, with service by the Angel Island Ferry Co. (on weekdays during the warm weather months and on weekends year-round)
Unlike the Tiburon and Sausalito ferry piers, private boats can also pay to moor at the Ayala Cove Pier, under the rules of Angel Island State Park.
You can only buy round-trip tickets to Angel Island from either service, so you can’t do a triangle route and go from San Francisco to Tiburon or vice versa via Angel Island without paying double for two round trips.
Insiders Tip: Always leave yourself and your group extra time to get back to the Ayala Cove pier. It always takes longer to pack up and get everyone over to the pier than you think it will… or at least that’s the way it’s always been for our family and friends! If you brought a big cooler for your BBQ that run to catch the ferry before it ;eaves can be pretty awkward!
Late in the day the lines get especially long, and on popular dates visitors can be left standing at the Ayala Cove Pier when the ferry fills up, especially if there are lots of bike riders.
The ferries run on time, and if you miss the last ferry of the day you’ll be scrambling to find a way back. (We offer some suggestions here.)
