The Alcatraz Pier 33 San Francisco Ferry Terminal at Fisherman’s Wharf
The Pier 33 Alcatraz terminal is operated by Alcatraz Cruises. and no other services sail from this pier. It’s located just a short walk down the Embarcadero from the Pier 39 / Pier 41 complex where Blue and Gold Fleet operates their cruises and Bay Ferries.
In addition to the pier area, where multiple Alcatraz ferries may be moored at any time, Pier 33 also is home to a gift shop and to the Alcatraz Landing Cafe.
Insiders Tip: If anyone comes up to you in this area of the waterfront (or anywhere in the city) and offers you a deal on buying discounted or unavailable Alcatraz tickets, it’s probably a scam. The National Park Service has a contract with Alcatraz Cruises that gives them the exclusive right to sell tickets for the ferries that go to Alcatraz, and the only place that the on-island tours sail from is Pier 33 San Francisco. There are no alternate sailing spots if you want to walk around on the island (though other services sail around it without landing), and no one else can sell you the tickets. Such scams are not uncommon.
