We mentioned the other day that volunteer signups for the 2014 Sausalito Art Festival are open for August 30-September 1. It turns out that this year there's another volunteer opportunity within the inner harbor of the Festival.
The Educational Tall Ship project is located in a huge tent adjacent to the traditional Festival grounds, with its entrance inside the ticket-holders area.
During the Festival visitors can tour the construction project for the Matthew Turner, (pictured above) a traditional hand-made wooden sailing ship, and see the vessel's frames, stem and transom completed and in place.
Master mariners and artists at the site will demonstrate knot-tying and mural painting, and musicians will be demonstrating music. They'll also have a maritime art exhibit and a treasure hunt for the kids.
The Tall Ship folks are looking for help in the big tent (on either adult or children's activities) and at their fund-raising food booth (near the main stage) which features award-winning Donna's Tamales.
