Note: This closure has been rescheduled to May 11. If you're coming home late SUNDAY night that is now the night that the Highway 1 (19th Ave. / Park Presidio Blvd.) onramp to 101 Northbound and to the Golden Gate Bridge will be closed.
If you're coming home to Marin late Sunday night on 19th Ave. in San Francisco, plan to take Doyle Drive to thye Golden Gate Bridge instead. The roadway will be closed from about 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM for realignment.
After the realignment the Highway 1 via 19th Ave. / Park Presidio Blvd. roadway will have some new twists to watch for, but in all other respects will be unchanged.
Although it's not closed on Sunday night, the big changes will be for drivers approaching the northbound Golden Gate Bridge on Highway 101 / Doyle Drive on Monday morning.
As of Monday morning May 12 the last San Francisco exit before the Bridge, the one that leads to the South Parking Lot, Fort Point, and the roadway that goes under the Bridge, will be moved.
That "Last chance to exit" will now come a quarter mile sooner on your merge from Doyle Drive just before you reach the Bridge. You need to get into the right hand lane soon after you go through the new Doyle Drive tunnel and watch for where signs will direct you through a new freeway exit in the concrete barriers.
This temporary alignment will only be in place for about a month, but that won't matter to the folks who miss the exit and have to cross the Bridge twice and pay a toll.
The Presidio Parkway project has a great video that shows the coming changes here.
