NEWS FLASH: THE TRIDENT HAS RE-OPENED AFTER ITS REMODEL! CLICK HERE FOR THE STORY!
So you can imagine our delight to see that the rumors have been made official, and that Horizons is getting its 1966-76 glory days name back and will once again be The Trident.
This points out the wisdom of the building’s owners in preserving so much of the unique woodwork and painting from the Trident days, so the current renovation does not have to reproduce those unique fixtures. The new Trident will have much of the old Trident in it because the original was never ravaged.
Why now? Because the coming of the America’s Cup races will produce a period of boom times for restaurants with sweeping Bay views, especially those with big decks. It’s no coincidence that the upstairs deck is being rebuilt as part of the plan.
As the sign above shows, we can look forward to the grand re-opening in late April or early May — the “Hardhat Area” signs currently remain in place. UPDATE: As of late June, 2012 the Trident is still closed for renovations.
Jessica Mullins of the Scope first covered the rumored change last December, and you can find her article here.
Now all we need is for someone to re-open Sally Stanford’s Valhalla, a local rumor with a much less happy ending.
