Did you hear the sirens from the fire trucks as they rushed down Bridgeway? They made the windows in our office rattle as they went by.
Construction crews working in Sausalito this afternoon accidentally cut into a gas main, triggering two waves of Southern Marin fire trucks and personnel. Johnson St. is closed between Bridgeway and Caledonia.
UPDATE: It's now open between Bridgeway and Caledonia, but closed the next block up on Johnson. Thanks to Kay for the update!
UPDATE: The Sausalito Marinscope reports that a private contractor working on a sewer main repair for the city was the one who ruptured the gas main on Johnson St., not crews working on the Police and Fire Dept. buildings. Thanks to Jessica Mullins for keeping the community (including us!) updated on accurate information.
