OurSausalito.com Opens Contributing Editor Opportunities
We are proud to announce that we are opening opportunities for Contributing Editors at OurSausalito.com. These volunteer positions will give local writers a chance to contribute to the largest independent online site about Sausalito. As we close in on 500 pages of content about Sausalito we believe the foundation is now in place that can support a larger base of contributors.
If you’re interested, please email us and share your interests and either copies or a link to some samples of your writing.
Here’s what our contributing editors will do:
— Contribute articles about local events, activities, places or businesses. Like Wikipedia, we ask that editors write about places owned by others, not about their own businesses or services. You have the option of a byline that identifies you as the author of a piece.
— Suggest changes, improvements, enhancements etc. to our existing reference pages on everything from (in alphabetical order) Activities to Weddings.
— Give input for our restaurant and hotel reviews.
Contributing Editors must live or work in Sausalito, or have a clear first-person primary-source present-day link to the City. If you live nearby and are here all the time, it will show in your writing and that “ring of truth” is what we’re after. We’d like to see at least one article a week from each Contributing Editor, but this is a guideline and not a requirement.
All articles are reviewed by an Editor before inclusion, and we maintain consistent standards about the way in which we write about Sausalito. As one resident put it, “You guys never have a snarky attitude,” and that’s exactly the way we want it.
Some of the interests we’d like to have represented among our Contributing Editors: Art, Environment, Fire Protection, Floating Homes, Hotels, Music, Parks, Police, Real Estate, Restaurants, Retail, Schools, Volunteering.
Some of the kinds of people we’re looking for: an artist, a high school student, a college student, a retired person, a musician, an educator, someone from each Sausalito neighborhood from Marin City to Old Town. In everything we do we seek a diverse group and practice equal opportunity in building our team.
Know someone in Sausalito whose voice ought to be heard? Please tell them about this opportunity. Thank you!
